Professionals Real Estate Group is incredibly passionate about the work the Foundation does for children and their families affected by cancer. Every week at least three Kiwi kids are diagnosed with cancer. Child Cancer Foundation (CCF) has been supporting the children and families facing this unimaginable hardship since 1978.
Child Cancer Foundation offers a helping hand with emotional, social and practical support. That includes a dedicated family support coordinator to provide strength and comfort, essential care kits to make time at hospital easier, help with everyday living costs and much more. They also support cancer research and provide grants to medical professionals to further their medical education and training.
We truly admire the work the Foundation undertakes to ensure that ‘every child and their family walking the child cancer journey will never feel alone’, and it’s for this reason that we have chosen to support them since 1994. Since we began contributing we’ve raised over $5.2 million to help Child Cancer Foundation continue their amazing work, and we are proud to be a “Super Hero” Business Partner.
This money has helped fund two Family Places in Auckland and Wellington. These are staffed day centres walking distance from hospitals where children who are being treated and their families can spend time in a safe, fun and clean environment.
We’ve also helped fund two holiday homes, one in Taupo and one in Arrowtown. These are free for families to use to create positive memories together. Our donations also contributed to the purchase of Child Cancer Foundation’s national support office in Auckland.
At the end of 1993, a member of the Professionals knew someone who lost their child to cancer. Because of this personal connection, Professionals Palmerston North started fundraising for the Child Cancer Foundation - that was the beginning of a long relationship spanning decades.
Here are a few of the highlights:
•1995: We raised funds to help Child Cancer Foundation produce educational brochures for families about child cancer.
• 1997 & 1998: Our fundraising contributions helped Child Cancer Foundation purchase a four bedroom property in Taupo to offer to children and their families as a free holiday home.
• 1998: Our fundraising contributions helped contribute towards the purchase of another holiday home in Queenstown. This was later sold and a holiday home in Arrowtown was purchased in its place.
• 2004: We contributed funds towards the purchase of a building for Child Cancer Foundation Family Places in Wellington and Auckland.
• 2016: We became the official supporter of Child Cancer Foundation’s Family and SIBS (Specially Important Brothers and Sisters) camps.
Without Child Cancer Foundation Kiwi kids diagnosed with cancer and their families would not get the same amazing level of support and assistance. That’s why the Professionals are 100% behind the Foundation and continue to support them by fundraising across each of our branches across New Zealand.
